Penn State offers two innovative online programs in Community and Economic Development.

Master of Professional Studies

Postbaccalaureate Certificate

Both programs provide professionals, officials, and citizens with the knowledge and skills to work with citizens and leaders to establish and maintain viable communities and community organizations.

A significant aspect of these programs is the incorporation of multidisciplinary perspectives drawing on economics and sociology and the attention paid to application of theory and research to practice of community and economic development. The multidisciplinary approach recognizes and addresses the complexity of working in and with communities and organizations. Courses include on-line discussions, readings, exercises and projects that provide opportunities to apply what is learned. On-line courses are offered through Penn State's World Campus.

For more information on the Master of Professional Studies or the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Community and Economic Development you may email the program at CEDEVinfo@psu.edu or 814-863-5884.
